This place sucks!!! The staff was not friendly, and the place looked very chaotic. The prices are way too high for the quality. I recommend going somewhere else for food and srevice.

When Spoons first opened they started out very strong in quality of their menu items, friendly & prompt service and quaint atmosphere. Then it kind of started slipping. We had brunch there the other day (after not having been there in almost a year) and noticed that it was very overcrowded, wait staff not as friendly and it seemed disorganized/chaotic. Worse yet, the menu prices had gone up considerably and the food wasn't as good. Not sure what's happening over there but if they don't pull it together they're going to start losing business if they haven't already.

Spoons is my favorite place for breakfast in Mckinney. I love the cakes and pies too. It's a fun restaurant and the owner is a nice, and very creative person. I highly recommend it. Great food!

I am writing as a local McKinney resident who knows a thing or two about how this business is run. Aside from personal woes, I strongly encourage anyone who is interested in the restaurant to steer clear. Want coffee? Go to Coffee n'Cream around the corner. Want good, affordable food? Head to Sauce on the Square. The owner is hands down one of the most tyrannical and unethical business owners I've ever seen. I've thankfully never had to work under her dictatorship but I know few who have and it's highly unfortunate. If you care at all about the integrity of the service you pay for then you will steer clear of Spoon's Cafe and suggest others do the same. My next stop is the BBB and Texas Workforce Commission..

After reading about this cafe, we were excited to try it. When we found it, and saw that it was so busy, we thought "It must be good!" We were wrong. I had the chicken tetrazzini, a guilty pleasure, but there was no guilt here because I didn't eat it. Maybe it was good on the day it was first made, but not by the time we got it. Our server was pleasant enough, but inattentive. He apparently didn't notice we needed coffee and spoons, or that he needed a clean t-shirt. He never asked if our food was good -- even after picking up our plates. It should have been obvious that something was amis since 90% of the food was still on the plate. We were excited to leave and never come back.

After dining at Spoons this last weekend, I only wanted to think up a good reason why I couldn't keep ordering more food. I had the most delectible Pumpkin soup accompanied with 1/2 BLT sandwich that was lick the plate scrumptious. A new experience for me was the Buttermilk Pie. Heavens above! I am sad to say I live in CA and have nothing to compare out here so I will remember this experience fondly and hope to return the next time I am out visiting! Exceptional service and wonderful venue.

I was extremely disappointed today with my experience at Spoons. My son has a mild food allergy and when we asked out waiter for information about allergens he responded that because the allergen's were "in the building" he could give us no further information and that was the resaurants policy. It is not a peanut allergy and we do not have concerns about cross contamination, but that did not seem to matter. We never recieved an answer to our question, and when we spoke to someone regarding this policy after our meal she was very flippant. If you have any type of food allergy, steer clear of Spoons. It is to much trouble for them to serve you!

Good food, cute place in mckinney's downtow square. The waitstaff were helpful and very friendly. Reasonable prices, a huge drink/latte menu. Homey, Austin-type atmosphere exuded by the people working there. Can't wait to go back.

My fiance' and I had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, but decided to give it a try. We were "greeted" very rudely by a hostess and decided not to put our name on this list for lunch. We were in shock that someone would be so rude. Downtown McKinney is such a nice and pleasant area, but do not waste your time going to this restaurant. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in the square that will treat you with respect and value the money that you spend.

There is a Spoons Cafe and Spoons Garage - both decorated artistic style and both offer the same food. On the Cafe side there is outdoor seating as well as small indoor tables and larger ones for groups. The menu is extensive and many dessert choices to choose from. They offer flavored ice tea which tasted wonderful. The potato soup tasted good. They have a Grown Up Grill Cheese as they call it. That is made of 3 different cheeses, mixed herbs, on sourdough bread. The bread was lightly toasted - good not really fresh, but not stale either. That is how all of the food is . . . good/average. Not bad, but not excellent either. Breakfast items can be ordered all day. Sandwich items comes with choice of sides such as potato salad, pasta salad, chips or cup of soup. The ambience is fun and artistic and since the menu is extensive it is worth several visits. The service was wonderful, quick and friendly. The drinks are refilled in a very timely manner. On the Spoons Garage side, it is decorated artistic style with couches. The square footage is smaller than the restaurant side but still room for patrons. More of a coffee bar style. The Garage side offers gift items for sale such as jars of treats like Pecan Pie in a jar. Other items for sale include silver measuring spoons and other kitchen and gift items.
