Bistro 14, Beach Haven

We chose this restaurant today during the Chowder Fest weekend. The island was mobbed but not many people were in the restaurant. Should have been our first clue. The service was not good at all, very slow even though not crowded. VERY pricey. Two of us ordered corn crab bisque. There was not ONE pice of corn, there was NO crab at all. Thin broth. Terrible excuse for soup. Calamari was acceptable but nothing special. The crab leg appetizer provided 3 legs that were so small that it questionable as to whether or not they should have been thrown back when caught. Laughable. No complaints from the person who ordered mussels. We will NEVER return to that restaurant and will warn others to avoid it. Should have gone with my first instinct which was to get chowder in a bread bowl from the little place right below Bistro 14. Never disappointed there!

We stopped at the restaurant the day before our group of 12 was to dine and told the chef/owner we wanted the table set for 5 on each side and 1 at each end only to find 6 seats on each side of the table when we arrived (Our only request was not met). The food was good, but the portions were small and pricey ($34 for a 7 oz filet and $30 for a small piece of halibut). The service was slow and some of the food was cold or not as hot as it should have been, fries had to be sent back. One dinner (mahi mahi) arrived when most of us had almost finished eating. The menu was short on the number of seafood specialty dishes you get at many other restaurants in this seashore environment.

First time eating at this restaurant. Some of the best Oysters i've ever had. My entree was the Halibut, also very good. The service was efficent with very friendly waitresses and staff. Would recommend this to my friends and family members. I look forward to returning when i visit the Island again someday!

Great food and service with beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed three meals here this summer, each one was memorable. Everyone loves the porch, but we ended up liking the cozy banquette by the raw bar. They promote their raw bar a lot and it really is unlike anything else we've seen on LBI. Dinners were generous and prepared with care. The chicken with olives had one of the best sauces I've ever tasted. We also enjoyed grilled tuna with a corn and red pepper sauce that was really summer on a plate. We were talked into the profiteroles on our last night and ended up kicking ourselves for not having dessert before. The chocolate sauce was unbelievable. Prices were what you would expect on the island, but compared to the other places Bistro was worth it.

Could've been SO much better. Unfortunately, it was understaffed causing us to wait 1/2 an hour when most of the tables were empty. Then I thought that I had mistakenly received a children's meal. My fish & chips meal was ridiculously SKIMPY....and after waiting so long, we were hungry!!!!

We discovered Bistro 14 this summer. It is in Bay Village, a collection of small shops in Beach Haven. It overlooks the bay and it charmed us from the first. We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere so much we returned 2 more times over our week's stay and were never disappointed. The restaurant has a fantastic raw bar selection, 6 varieties every day from the West and East coast. That is its claim to fame, and if you like oysters, do not miss this this restaurant. But, it isn't just seafood, everything we had their from lamb shanks to a veal special that blew our minds it was just so perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with oyster descriptions. They are mostly college kids, their big smiles make up for some lack of experience. They remembered us each time, by the end of the week we felt like we had been going there for years. I'd give it high marks all around and an enthusiastic recommendation.

Although not the best food I've had, it is decent for the price you are paying. Staff is extremely friendly and fun while offering very good service. Atmosphere is nice to provide for a relaxing evening.

Our family dinner experience at Bistro 14 was disappointing. All of the appetizers including the onion soup were brought to the table cold. We ordered a variety of dinners and all of the food was distasteful and displayed poorly. For example, the fried fish/shrimp and mashed potato plate had the cole slaw slabbed onto the plate and the juice was all running through the food. Lastly, the server was unprofessional and needed training. For example, she shoved the plate past a person leaning at the table without saying excuse me, slow with refills of drinks and took all the food away without asking if anyone wanted anything wrapped,(which believe me we didn't).

I had dinner at Bistro 14 the other night. The food was excellent. It was my 3rd vist and each time was better then the last. My server, Jon was very charming and could not have been better. I started off the with the white chowder and then had the Crab Imperial. I highly recommend the restrauant to everyone.
