Anchalee Thai is literally the BEST Thai in Greenville. Way, way better than Lemongrass, and even better than Thai 360. Here is why:
1. The service is impeccable. This was my 4th visit, and it has consistently been spectacular. As soon as you walk in, you are immediately greeted with warm faces, you are seated and given a menu. If they recognize you (which they did us on the 2nd visit) they almost guess as to what you will order. If you are a first time visitor, they give you plenty of time to look over the menu, and they go above and beyond answering any questions you may have. They are very knowledgeable about pacing between appetizers, dinner, and desert. That way you won’t be biting into your first spring roll as your food is brought out to you.
2. The food is just incredible. At Anchalee Thai, the flavors are very delicate and intricate with subtle hints of basil and lemongrass that complement each other. You not only can taste the flavors with your mouth, but the aroma helps to correspond all your senses in one remarkable bite. Because it’s so delicate, you don't want Thai food that is drowsed in soy sauce (like at Lemongrass). Their Tom Yum Soup is just incredible, and their spring rolls are crispy, never soggy nor greasy.
3. Oh and... the price? It can't be beat. Their lunch specials are $7.29 (not including tax). With this lunch special, you are first served a warm, pallet tantalizing, wonton soup, then you are served a spring roll and your main entree. Your main entree is a very reasonable portion size, so you will definitely leave there feeling full. For dinner, the prices are slightly larger, but only about a dollar or two. Since it is dinner, the entree sizes are larger than lunch portions.
4. The atmosphere is calming, peaceful, and very exotic. You walk in and immediately you notice the beautiful decor that is reminiscent of Thailand. The ceiling replicates traditional Thai architecture, the details are just exquisite. The tables are dressed with time-honored Thai fabric. All of the subsequent elements combine into a skillfully decorated restaurant.
I highly recommend the Kee Mao (drunken noodle) (8.99 for dinner) and their spring rolls(5.99, but you get 5 of them). They have an amazing fried banana dessert with coconut ice cream (which is handmade, with real bits of coconut, its 5.99 and it comes with two scoops of ice cream) its heavenly!!
All in all, you will have an astonishing experience at Anchalee Thai
