San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art (SFMOMA), San Francisco

The permanent collection, in my opinion, is not very impressive. Can't compare with MOMA or Guggenhiem in NYC or even with LA MOCA. However, they often have world class exhibits! And the building is amazing. So if you like architecture or are interested in the special exhibit, I'd reccommend a visit. Otherwise, give it a miss.

The SFMOMA is one of my favorite museums. The space is just gorgeous, and they always have interesting exhibitions here. I know I can just wander in and there will always be something I want to see, especially since they typically have more than one exhibition running at a time. I've seen cool object design shows here, as well as multimedia, and retrospectives by artists both famous (Klimt, Yoko Ono) and a little more obscure (Gerhard Richter). Never been disappointed with a show here. Great museum shop too! The location is great--so convenient to take BART/MUNI to, or park in the lot.

Only New York can beat it and then only sometimes.

...but what on earth are they throwing up on the walls? I have eaten too many fruit loops and puked up more attractive things than most of the "art" at SFMOMA. The curators there are wasting a beautiful building.

some great art, but not worth going all the way to San Francisco to see unless you live there. very expensive city. expensive food, gifts.

The SF MOMA is a breath-taking museum in itself. The art is world-class and amazing! The location is great too, in posh SoMa. Definately a must for all toursits. If you know art and appreciate it, you must stop here and be amazed!

unless you are really interested in Architecture i wouldn't advise you to go. Maybe Im spoiled by NYC (where I live). BUt the building was the best thing there. Ive been to SFMOMA many times and the best things are the audio tours that are complete with commentary by the artists, and the building itself. the art is un-interesting and there are few good pieces.

Unless you really like contemporary work that is called "art", pass it up and go straight to the Legion of Honor museum. SFMOMA, is not worth your time or money

I really enjoyed the art at SFMOMA. I liked the building, the layout, the exhibits and wall art.
