Description
This bicycle racing track has a fantastic story intertwined with the history of the Tour de France . Constructed in 1896 as the municipal velodrome of Paris, La Cipale was the site of the grand finish of the Tour de France from 1968-1974, and the legendary Eddy Merckx won his five victories there. Today, the velodrome continues to host bike races, to function as a training ground, and is the home of the Velo Club des Veterans Parisiens, a cycling team for enthusiasts over 35. The space is also used for concerts and baseball, softball, and football (soccer) games. Also called the Velodrome Jacques Anquetil or Velodrome Municipale de Paris.
