Yankee Stadium

Description

The 1923 Yankee Stadium is a historic landmark in the world of Major League Baseball. Some of the sport's greatest players have spent their careers there, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, and Joe DiMaggio. Though they'll never be able to replace this monument, the franchise debuted their new stadium in 2009, directly across the street from their old park. The "new" Yankee Stadium has many new features, such as expanded walkways, more concessionaires, and a renovated Monument Park. Lifetime fans will notice familiar touches, though, the biggest among them being the outfield frieze back in its original location around the upper deck. Suite and party facilities are available for those looking for something slightly more private. Check website for pricing, schedules, and other info.

The Basilica of Baseball
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/06
I have loved the Stadium since before it was renovated in the 70's and my Dad took me to games. Although it's huge and the seats in the upper tiers can give you a nosebleed, it is a "must see" venue for any true baseball fan. I'm a die hard Yankee fan, so I hate to admit that Fenway Park is my favorite place to watch a game. It's a lot smaller and more intimate and every seat, unlike at Yankee Stadium, is a great seat. More importnatly, there's just much more to do around ballparks like Fenway and Camden Yard, where the Orioles play. I am now taking my young son to Yankee games, so I have become very aware of this. The new Yankee Stadium will be a better overall place to visit because the neighborhood around the park will be transformed and there will be restaurants and shops and other attractions to visit. The present environment is not the most ideal place to hang around in and really offers nothing else to do but get into the park, watch the game and go home. In its present state, that part of the Bronx is not the place to linger. We deserve a new, spectacular Stadium and the neighborhood and its inhabitants deserve a facelift.

Home of greatest team in baseball.
By Devo, 2/25/06
Oh I know opinions differ however as for me that statement is true. I enjoy driving to New York because I enter the city through the bronx and I pass the stadium every time it's a very beautiful sight. A must see if you make it to New York hopefully you'll be able to catch a game while you're there.

The world's modern day Roman Colliseum
By Dude, 10/2/05
Yankee Stadium is home to the winningest franchise in team sports. Besides housing the Yankees, the stadium has been home to the New York football Giants, has had 2 Papal masses, a championship fights, and concerts. It is THE arena in the world's capital city.

Best stadium in the world
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/1/05
You have to love the Yankees, the fans, and the experience of being at a game in this stadium. Anyone who loves the game, even if they are not a Yankee fan, has to go at least one game at the Stadium.

One of the true historic ballparks!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/1/05
Momument Park is a must-- arrive early. No team has the history. Hope they don't move to a new stadium-- if they decide to move, then get to Yankee Stadium before it is too late. Good food. Pricey tickets if you want to sit close to the action
