The Basilica of Baseball

I have loved the Stadium since before it was renovated in the 70's and my Dad took me to games. Although it's huge and the seats in the upper tiers can give you a nosebleed, it is a "must see" venue for any true baseball fan. I'm a die hard Yankee fan, so I hate to admit that Fenway Park is my favorite place to watch a game. It's a lot smaller and more intimate and every seat, unlike at Yankee Stadium, is a great seat. More importnatly, there's just much more to do around ballparks like Fenway and Camden Yard, where the Orioles play. I am now taking my young son to Yankee games, so I have become very aware of this.
The new Yankee Stadium will be a better overall place to visit because the neighborhood around the park will be transformed and there will be restaurants and shops and other attractions to visit. The present environment is not the most ideal place to hang around in and really offers nothing else to do but get into the park, watch the game and go home. In its present state, that part of the Bronx is not the place to linger. We deserve a new, spectacular Stadium and the neighborhood and its inhabitants deserve a facelift.
