LA Carreta Mexican Restaurant, St. Charles

Delicious food. I visited on a Wednesday night. I was surprised how busy they were but I was able to be seated immediately. Salsa and chips were quickly brought to the table. I was unsure of what to order. I like chicken and the waiter had the chef make me something not on the menu. It was quite tasty and made with premium chicken. The tortillas taste fresh, served warm in a holder. We had good service that included refills on drinks 3 times without even asking for them and the waiter checking to see if we were enjoying our meal. The ambiance was like a colorful cantina. There was a personal view of the various types of tequilas along the wall. Some unusual bottles and worth the stop to see them. A good stop in St. Charles County.

We love this place! The food is great and the Texas margaritas are really good. Best mexican north of the border.

la carreta has great food. great chips and salsa, seasoning on the beef....all very good. however, the service...to be politically correct, is horrid...atrocious, my family and i were regulars and we still got horrible service, i guess i could say there is NO service. like i said, the food is good, but its not worth the waiting and the misunderstandings. the last time we went we finally had it...we asked to speak to a manager and the employee stuttered, pointed in a direction and left it up to me to find the manager, whoever he may be. i couldnt find this guy, i went back to the other employee, he wouldnt get the manager, he just asked what i wanted and just looked at me like an idiot. he was just trying to save his own rear end. we still havent gone back.

Fabulous. Huge portions. Incredible ground beef and delicious cheese sauce.

My husband and I go there once a week for dinner, the food is excellent. We live in Overland and this is the best mexican restaurant we have found. The waiters are terrific. Thanks to PEDRO, HOMER AND JAVIER. SHARON & TOM

Love it - love it - love it! The servers are incredibly friendly and the food is excellent. They also have an extensive selection of tequilas; just ask your server which he'd recommend. I would (and do quite often) recommend La Carreta to friends. You won't be disappointed!

We usually go to a different Mexican place but for some reason they weren't open so we decided to try La Carreta. We were really glad we did! The food was "excelente" and the staff was friendly! The salsa was unique- different from the average authenic Mexican restraunt's tomato- paste based salsa. It had a hint of cilantro (I think) and was a deliciously welcome change! I recommend giving La Carrata a try next time you're in the mood for a little Mexican cuisine- I know I'll definately be back!

The food is fast and fabulous! The servers are great too. Try it, you'll love it!
