Sargent's Fine Art Gallery
Of more than a hundred Maui galleries, this is one of the best. Among the masters on display are Carmello Sortino, lauded local sculptor Steven Turnbull and one-name wonder Gorban. One of the featured artists is the young Vladimir Kush, a 35-year-old Russian wunderkind comparable to a 21st Century Dali. Painting, sculptures and mixed media art are optimally displayed in the spacious salon. On Friday and Saturday evenings, artists visit the gallery to talk with fans. Live music is featured on the salon nights.
We enjoyed the no pressure approach of the staff at this gallery. They were very knowledgeable. It took a week of visits to come to making our decision and we felt the pricing was quite fair with the charges for shipping being paid for by the gallery. We were told it would take about 2 weeks for the art to arrive and we received it in 5 weeks. The delay was at the framer............they told us the moulding was out of stock. The wait was worth it and we would return to this gallery.
We had a great visit and purchased two items, one of which needed to be framed. The other arrived after a few weeks, but after nearly two months without any notice, I began attempting to contact the gallery for an update. Only one of four emails have received a response, and when I got someone on the phone I was told the reproduction business had some inexplicable problem that was causing the delay. That would appear to mean we aren't even going to get the actual painting we purchased (also a repro), but another different repro. 4 more weeks passed with no update, and I'm now waiting for a tracking number from the framing shop, supposedly.
It's been 16 weeks and no one can give me a straight answer on when my piece might actually arrive. We love Maui and will certainly be back, but we'll never shop here again.
...Friendly cast of artists as well. I just adhore Anne Good's art and her her warm spirit..She put a fire under me and I'm back into my art that I had
been let go of for way too many decades.. She has a warm
personality and a cute lady as well..!!!
Warmly Jim, the Artist..
For years I've been coming to "the Islands" to Surf its contests and dive into its awsome lively ocean. I've put to use my digital water cameras and land cameras to capture the beauty of the Island of Maui, The Big Island, Oahu,(and Tahiti), etc...
I was always drawn to the art galleries on every trip on front street.
Now, Maui is such a beautiful media and On many evenings I can be found in Lahaina strolling from gallery to gallery.
But my favorite is Sargents art Gallery where you could find me fixated on the paintings of Anna Good. I would be emulating Annas pallate knife strokes and was in awe of her fasinating color mixtures and the thickness of the oils.
Well she caught me a number of times standing in front her outstanding works of love..
She challanged me to get back into the artistic side of me.
I did. She has my 1st piece of art and asked me why haven't been doing this for the last 30 years?? and from that point on I've kept in touch and have about 20 pieces done and "so many started" and another 80 to 100 "plus" rattling around in my head and over a thousand photos yet to be tapped.
Sargents Gallery is filled with many breathtaking pieces of art in various mediums. You must stop in..
And to Anna, Thank you for seeing something in me that I had forgotten, my artistic side.
Thank you all, Jim Pilkenton(Retired Pro surfer and traveler)..
My wife and I were very taken by both the quality of the art and the staff that served us. We felt no pressure as we were welcomed to check the more than 30 artists on display, both local and internationally recognized painters and sculptures. We felt very confident in our purchase as first time buyers of quality art from Sargent's. If only they would scrub up the carpet a bit...
We liked the politeness of the 2 different people we spoke to and our sales lady was extremely knowledgable. The art we purchased was shipped safe and sound and with framing took about 5 weeks to reach our home. The wait was worth it! We'd go back!
Very unique jewelry by local artist Kenneth Brown that is worth checking out. My wife and I had been looking for pearl earings, but after seeing many of the same old thing, we were about to give up until we decided to look one more place. Not cheap, but amazing one of a kind pieces.
There is no better place to shop for an authentic souvenir than this one. With two other locations in Ka'anapali
and Paia, this small chain of stores is dedicated to giving local artists the chance to display and sell ...
This gallery can be found around the back of Lahaina's famous Banyan Tree, in a hidden section of the Old
Lahaina Courthouse. You'll need to look carefully, or you might walk right past the little steps leading down into ...
