Kelii's Kayak Tours
With its warm blue water and stunning natural scenery, Maui is a fantastic place to kayak. This company takes groups to the best kayaking spots around the island. It also runs a surf school on the South Side. Visit the sea turtles at La Perouse, site of ancient lava formations and secluded snorkel spots. Traverse the uninhabited shores of famous Honolua Bay. A sunset kayak tour is also available.
Kelii's has a great AM Turtle Paddle out of Mekenna Landing. Best activity I did during my 2-week trip. Highly recommended. Don't get fooled by the so-called Eco-Tours (the Eco stands for Economy, like WalMart).
We had a wonderful time. Neither my wife nor I are workout freaks. And yet spending a couple hours in a kayak on the ocean was not overwhelming for us.
Our guide was considerate of his group. He did a good job of explaining everything we needed to know about kayaking and then later snorkeling.
We saw whales, sea turtles, a few crabs climbing on a rock face and dozens of different fish.
He had a professional water camera that he used to take photos of us and our water friends. He dove down to the reef and found an octopus and even took a few pictures of it as well.
I highly recommended Kelii's to other guests at our hotel.
Our guide was totally unknowledgeable. He didn't get in the water to snorkel with us either, which I did notice the other adjacent kayak groups had the benefit of. Wouldn't recommend this company. Great activity, bad company, especially compared to the interaction experience when compared to other activities we did with other companies while in Lahaina.
We had a fantastic kayak tour. The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the underwater life, with an emphasis on treating the sealife with respect(ie not approaching turtles too closely when they come up for air, preventing accidentally standing/kicking the reef). He gave us a thorough safety briefing and kept a close eye on our group of 7 while in the water. I'm a bit of a scuba snob and thought it might not be exciting enough for me. I was wrong. The snorkeling locations were full of sea life, saw lot's of turtles and the paddling was relaxing and great exercise. I thoroughly recommend Kelii's and can't wait to return!
