Big Kahuna Tours & Rental
If you have two left feet or an unreasonable fear of the ocean, do not worry about it; this surf and kayak company prides itself on "catering to the cowardly or uncoordinated." Located just across from Kihei Cove, the Big Kahuna store is perfectly located for visitors to South Maui. Several different kayaking adventure tours are available, and the company also specializes in surf lessons and scuba trips and operates a rental/retail store. Stop by or call for more information.
First time on a surf board and I was surfing in no time. They told me they would have me surfing in a couple hours but I was a little skeptical. Russell was our surf instructor and couldn't have been better. The experience was the highlight of my vacation. Jeff and his wife are the owners and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. They even took pictures with a waterproof camera and burned them on a disk for us. Be aware of other rental / lessons shops that make you listen to a condo pitch to get a cheaper price. Big Kahuna was just awesome awesome awesome!
We stayed in Maui Lu and Big Kuhana was nearby. My boyfriend and I went kayaking and snorkeling and we rented in Big Kuhana. I highly recommend this place, great people, great owner, Jeff, always a smile on his face and very helpful. Anything we needed help on, they were there. Enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling. Maui took my breath away! Can't wait to do it again.
We called the Big Kahuna for a kayak and snorkle adventure and they coulnd't have been any nicer and more accommodating. Since we were the only 2 on the tour, I asked when I booked it if they may cancel, but they assured me we would go regardless of how many booked it. I booked a 2 hour kayak and snorkle trip for my husband and myself and our guide Huck was so awesome We got instruction for about 10 minutes, then were off - kayaked for about 30 minutes, then made our first stop in the water. It was like swimming in an aquarium - tons of different fish, clear water, and giant sea turtles within feet of us. The guide was so helpful, pointing out points of interest, and telling us what the sea creatures were. He also helped me get back in the kayak the first time. Then it was on to snorkel spot number 2. This was also great, but although they try to time the popular dive spots so there are not big boats of tourists, the big boat that day was late so there were many people in the water with us. Not a big deal as 6 dolphins were swimming there too - but I would take our trip over the big mass boat snorkel any day - looked crowded and loud. Anyway - this was the highlight of our trip - better than whale watching, the road to Hana, the crater etc. LOVED THIS!!!

It has been around for ages, but this mall seems to be going through a hibernation period. (As any retailer
will tell you, this is normal for a Maui mall.) Currently it is home to a few restaurants, notably ...
