Waste of Time

The guides were very nice and helpful. They picked my partner and I up at our resort in Lahaina around 3:15 AM and took us to their office in Kahului. We were offered breakfast and fitted for our journey and then we hopped in their van (not a luxury coach) and ascended to the 6500 foot level at Haleakala. It was there that we sat for 2 hours inside the van (it was freezing), occassionally venturing outside to see the stars. The sunrise wasn't impressive--we didn't even go to the crater. When the sun was in the sky, we were fitted to our bikes
(sort of)--mine was rusty and old--and we descended at a very slow pace (stopping every 5-7 minutes for pictures. This company mioght have been doing this for longer than most on the island--but if you know how to ride a bike--I would strongly reccommend that you not go with them and instead choose the self-guided tour from another Bike Tour company. The tours from this place are for people who are nervous about riding a bike in general--or are older, or have children. For us, it was a waste of both time and $250.
