Great Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/08
My husband and I booked Maui Downhill on our honeymoon and had a great time. We drove to their location on Dairy Rd and met up with the other riders around 3:30am. (The drivers picked everyone else up on time). The sunrise was beautiful and the ride down the volcano was amazing. We stopped on the way for pictures and breakfast. The tour guides (Greg and Chris) were great, they made us feel safe and constantly asked us how we were doing during the trip down. Chris rode behind the riders in their van so that we weren't driving with cars. I would recommend this tour and company to anyone traveling to Maui.

Waste of Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/08
The guides were very nice and helpful. They picked my partner and I up at our resort in Lahaina around 3:15 AM and took us to their office in Kahului. We were offered breakfast and fitted for our journey and then we hopped in their van (not a luxury coach) and ascended to the 6500 foot level at Haleakala. It was there that we sat for 2 hours inside the van (it was freezing), occassionally venturing outside to see the stars. The sunrise wasn't impressive--we didn't even go to the crater. When the sun was in the sky, we were fitted to our bikes (sort of)--mine was rusty and old--and we descended at a very slow pace (stopping every 5-7 minutes for pictures. This company mioght have been doing this for longer than most on the island--but if you know how to ride a bike--I would strongly reccommend that you not go with them and instead choose the self-guided tour from another Bike Tour company. The tours from this place are for people who are nervous about riding a bike in general--or are older, or have children. For us, it was a waste of both time and $250.

Do not Book Maui Downhill
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/05
I have a complaint against Maui Downhill for poor refund practices, product quality, and fraudulent business practices. The van drivers are incompetent- the employees are hostile- they would offer no refund even when THEY canceled our bike ride due to lingering weather from hurricane Kenneth- and when we arrived back from the summitt to the Maui Downhill offices- all the employees hid in the back offices refusing to help or talk to us. It took over two hours to get a ride back to our hotel since they picked us up at 2 AM. Maui Downhill should be investigated and Rich Goodenough should be forced to run his business in a lawful manner. I beg and plead to you not to book with Maui Downhill. Protect yourself from this slimy company.
