Banyan Tree Park, Lahaina

I have always been a tree climber and being able to climb this huge tree was awesome!! It was so nice being able to find notchs to put your hands and feet into unlike regular trees... My sisters and I had an awesome time hangin around in the trees! We found it fun and exciting. It also gave you the feeling like that's where you belonged and how nature should truly be: a big and beautiful tree in a lovely park for all to enjoy! Some people also left behind garbage, which we threw away. It was very, very rude of those people to think it'll just blow away or someone will come and pick it up. I thought that that was the only downfall. People should have a desire to keep Hawai'i and many other places clean. It was the only disappointment to me. I hope when I go again it'll be much, much, much cleaner!! It was also in a great location: downtown Lahaina. There is food (delicious), ice cream (yum!), and shopping(totally fun!). It's great place to go and hang out at after dinner or a long day at the beach!! I recommend it for people of all ages!! Overall it was a wonderful place for young people (like me) and a great place for my parents to relax and enjoy time off from work. We were there in Dece 2007 for the lighting of the Banyan Tree, it was a great time and the music and art fair for local artists was an excellent way to buy gifts and know you are supporting the locals.

We love to visit Maui and Lahaina is a wonderful town to walk around. Unfortunately the park isn't the cleanest and the area around the tree has been used as a toilet. Take a picture from afar and then head to the Pioneer Inn for a nice meal or the Maui Theater to see Ulalena or the Old Lahaina Luau for the morning Ho'omana'o!

The tree in the middle was huge and it seemed as if everyother tree around it was connected to it. It was amazing. There were locals there selling art work and carvings.

It was pretty cool that this huge tree that wraps around the park is only one tree. A great picture spot that provided some good shade while waiting for the boats.

There isn't much to the Banyan Tree. The Lahaina chamber of commerce simply wants tourists to come to the overcrowded, unremarkable Lahaina shop district. There is little there but overpriced trinkets, mediocre meals and tee shirts. Don't waste your time or money in Lahaina.

It is absolutely amazing! I was lucky enough NOT to be there at sundown when all the birds come to roost! A must see!

The Banyan Tree Park was beautiful! Have never seen a tree like this. Enjoyed the shops and spent a lot of money there but some of the clerks were not very friendly and felt like I was being watched every moment. And, I noticed there were no return policies so I thought that was kind of unusal and not real friendly. Sure enjoyed the Pacific Whale Foundation whal watch. What a bargain! And the Ole Lahaina was definitely worth going to. The Cheeseburger Cheeseburger restaurant folks were also not too friendly and overpriced but otherwise most food was great and reasonably priced. A wonderful memory overall! The airport has a lot to be desired. Expected to arrive with beautiful flowers yet it was very dull and those attendants were the rudest I have ever experienced in travel. I was surprised at this.

We couldn't belive this was just one tree! Nothing like I had ever seen before. It was hard to take in in pictures because it is so huge and you have to see it in real life to appreciate it! A must see in Maui!
