Serene and lovely, this ocean-side cafe in Napili Shores is ideal for breakfast or lunch. Omelettes, eggs dishes and cereal are served in the morning. The lunch menu features burgers, fries and salads. The ambiance is what distinguishes this place from the mainland coffee shops. Diners sit outside, on a lovely shady terrace that is kissed by ocean breezes and offers a view of the indigo Pacific Ocean. The service is friendly, cheerful and local. The whole operation is housed, just as the name would imply, in a large thatched gazebo.
My first trip to the Gazebo was when I was 14 and 11 years later it was just as good as I remembered. After backpacking through Kauai, it was like coming home to stay at Napili and eat at the Gazebo. Earlier the better to enjoy the morning sun.
We happen to hear about this cute little place from friends and it was worth the wait. Don't let the line discourage you. Get there early and just enjoy the view. The food is delicious and the service is fast and friendly. Don't go away without trying the mixed stack of banana, pineapple and macadamia pancakes. Come hungry. We could have eaten here everyday -- Yummy to my tummy!
What a find. One of fellow travelers told us to go and it was great. Be prepared for a 30 minute wait, no matter what time you go, but it is worth it. If you go and don't get the banana macadamia nut pancakes you are missing the boat. The view is really great too.
I actually found this place reading reviews here, and it was less than two miles where i was staying... All the reviews are spot on... Small place, more like a diner, but the food and service are top notch...
Despite the unlikely location, the Gazebo offers a great value with great service on the island. Don't be scared off by postings of long waits. The sausage patties are delicious and expect generous helpings of eggs (served any style) and of course the pancakes are amazing. They are open til 2 p.m. and are more than happy to serve your breakfast no matter what time you crawl out of your island slumber. Make it a day and you can visit the great snorkel beach right next door for families with small kids.
My wife and I went to Maui last June. We stayed at Napili Kai in Napili Bay where this place is. We walked there each morning for breakfast. Everything from the island style white right and gravy to the best pancakes you'll ever taste, this place is fantastic. I suggest this to anyone staying on the north shore. I'll go back to Maui just to eat their pancakes!
This was the most wonderful spot for an early breakfast. Watching the waves, we even think we spotted some turtles, feeling the ocean mist mixed in with the soft breeze was a constant reminder that we were in paradise. The food was amazing, especially the macadamia pancakes. Do not miss this spot. There was a bit of a wait, maybe 20 minutes or so but not a big deal.
The Gazebo will definitly become a Maui tradition..
My wife and I visited Maui, and still miss the whole trip. But the Gazebo comes up often in our conversation. The ocean view is awsome, the tidepools below are teaming with creatures, and the food was wonderful. Don't pass it up if you get the chance.
