Moose McGillycuddy's, Lahaina

We never went there for the evening ambiance and "dirty dancing." Not interested. But the breakfast (at about 9:30am) is terrific and sitting at the open window above Front Street, one can see the street come alive (awake). Portions are big. Omlettes terrific; spuds delicious. I'll go back.

Not a great selection on the menu so we went with the burgers. About as average as a burger gets - get something else if you go here.

On our honeymoon in December 2006 this was one of the best values we found in Maui. The service was also the best we had while on the island. I would suggest it for a nice lunch spot.

I eat at Moose's every time I visit Maui. Each time has been a great experience. However this year I was disappointed with two of the three meals we had. Breakfast was a good value, but the service was poor and the food was not up to the the quality I have been used to during previous visits. Lunch was back to the usual quality. Dinner however, was the worst I have ever experienced. The all you can eat was a great value and the service okay, but that's where it stops. The all you can eat was Alaska King Crab, or a reasonable facsimile It must have been in the freezer for a long long time. No taste, dry, and rubbery. To be fair, this is the first time I had a bad meal at Moose's. I will try again!

We went back the next night! Heard about the place from a co-worker, so we decided to give it a try for Happy Hour. The drinks were good, and a great price. You have to try a Hawaiian Punch. Had a few drinks and then wenat back later for dinner. Family ordered the early bird prime rib, I had a burger. When I saw the prime, wished I had ordered it! Was expecting a small piece of beef--certainly wasn't small! My burger was excellent. Had the southern table on the street side, and could occassionally smell sewer gas. Not too appetizing. Went back a second time, had the Hawaiian punch, prime rib, and a table that had no street odors. The best food value we found in Maui.

Moose's rustic ambiance should not scare you from tasting their meals which is definitely off the hook . . . their prime rib dinner is absolutely tender, delicious and very inexpensive, too. I must admit that local Mauians know to look at the listed specials offered at the main entrance to the restaurant before going upstairs to eat. The specials are not listed in their menus, so this is a head's up to look downstairs for Moose's Specials. Happy hour starts around 4 pm daily and the dinner specials start at 4:30 PM. Moose's dining is upstairs with open views of the Lahaina street with glimpses of a scenic sunset-no windows here at this restaurant.

Went in April/easter week this year. This place had horrible service and snotty waiters who wished they were some where else. Even though the restuarant was pretty much empty, it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive. My son's pasta came out plain from the kitchen. We asked for a little butter to be put on the pasta. It came back drenched in butter (probably a whole stick of butter). When we complained, the waiter brought a plate and said we could drain off the butter. At this point, I was ready to strangle the waiter, but desided not to leave a tip instead. Walk accross the street and go to Cheeseburger in Paradise. It might be a few dollars more but you will be treated with respect and get a great burger for a reasonable cost.

We had a wonderful lunch and thought it was a wonderful value for the money. Great service! The only downfall....it's not very clean. Lots of bird poop around on the chairs, tables, etc. Bathrooms weren't kept up well either.

Moose McGillycuddys is a must stop for our entire family. We enjoyed a cosy dinner for two, then danced to live music. The next morning, along with 7 kids (age 16-9), we had the most outstanding breakfast of our lives, the kids still talk about it. Almost as important, we could still afford to enjoy other activities.

We went to Moose's twice. Once for dinner, and wasn't that impressed, and seated in the back. Service was good, but food just ok. Then we decided to try breakfast, as it was early and we had a view of front street. We wondered why so many people were leaving so much food on plates when leaving. We found out when our food arrived. We did enjoy the view though.
