Lumahai Beach Park, Hanalei

When people close their eyes during cold New York or London winters and dream of the tropics, they picture this beach. It is a pristine expanse of warm, soft sand and deep blue water. It is situated just below black lava-rock cliffs which add to its aesthetic impact and make it very difficult to reach. It is necessary to hike down to the beach and back up to the main road. This is a dangerous beach for swimming but a great spot for pictures. Movie buffs will be interested in visiting just to take a look at the beach that was used to film South Pacific.
