WOW! AMAZING! WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME We chose Birds in Paradise over all the other actives merely on reputation. They have been in business 20+ years & we found them to be Organized & professional. We drove to Port Allen Airport (on the SW side of Kauai, known to locals as the sunny side) from Lihue where the weather was raining & overcast, the sun was shining & clear skies. When the four of us arrived, a little nervous with anticipation, Curt was awesome he immediately made us feel at ease. It would seemed that his personality is quite magnetic & disarming, which should make even the coldest of hearts warm & friendly. We wanted to learn more about the aircraft & he explained with great detail & knowledge the aircraft, safety was a high priority & his approach definitely created a high sense of confidence that you were in good hands. My wife was worried about motion sickness but it was never an issue. I will not go into the details of the aircraft, but I will tell you that these weight-shifted control powered hang gliders have a rocket-deployed emergency parachute. I don't even like flying on commercial planes, but I felt completely safe in the hang glider. The trike itself was roomier than I thought it'd be, and of course the rider is securely strapped in. At no time did I feel like I was going to fall out of the craft or that I was in danger of any kind. On the contrary, I felt an incredibly peaceful. The lift off & landings was so gentle. THE BEST PART WAS THIS IS A LESSON AND ALL FOUR OF US GOT TO FLY THE CRAFT. I will further say that this aircraft offers a far superior view than any helicopter or airplane. The field-of-view is unmatched, and I have done helicopter tours over the island, both with doors on and off. So if you want to experience an incredible ride with an unmatched bird’s-eye view of the Kauai, you must take a flight with Birds in Paradise. All our Pilots took the time to instruct us on safety principles & the aircraft. They happily answered any questions we had. Our Pilots were Tracy & Gene the pilots that flew our friends were just as "AWESOME" was their words. The pilots were very professional, fun, friendly, we were able to speak with our pilots throughout the whole flight. The experience was amazing the four of us flew together, each of us with a pilot. Tracy my pilot he knew everything about the island. These guys are all amazing. The whole operation was classy. We were treated to a bird's-eye view of spectacular waterfalls, Na Pali, Waimea Canyon, the ocean & shoreline, amazing just overhead views of whales, dolphins, seals, turtles. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO SEE KAUAI! THANK YOU BIRDS IN PARADISE FOR AN AMAZING DAY AND THE LIFE TIME OF MEMORIES OF THE FOUR OF US IN THE OUTSTANDING PHOTOS.

It was at the top of my to-do list while in Kauai and I just beat the hurricane winds. It was amazing--we went up nearly 6000 feet and then Gerry asked me if I'd ever flown through a cloud before. I said "no," and he told me to take my gloves off and "Grab some cloud" as he steered us through one. If you're at all inclined to do this, don't wait. Book your flight early in the trip (they fill up fast) and remember to breathe. You will be so glad you did.
