Solent Sky - Hall of Aviation

Description

Solent Sky - Hall of Aviation is a must-see for aviation buffs and a great tribute to one of Southampton's heroes, R J Mitchell, the designer of the legendary Spitfire, which was built in Southampton. Exhibits at the museum include a real Sandringham flying boat, a Spitfire and 13 other aircraft, plus masses of photos, models and engines. After taking in the exhibitions, why not stroll across to Ocean Village for a look at the yachts. Check their website for admission prices and seasonal opening hours.

I could not find it.
By ,
I accompanied my wife on a shopping trip to Southampton, and whilst she was touring the shops I decided to consult the tourist information centre to find somewhere interesting to visit. It was not easy to find the T.I.C. as it is not where the City map displays show it and when I found it was in the Library there were no signs outside the building. A very helpful lady gave me a map which showed the general location, but there was a pop-up that covered the exact location. A took a bus to City Quay as advised by the T.I.C. and walked along the route they suggested, I did see one road sign when I started walking but after walking way past the Itchen bridge and seeing no further signs concluded that I was not going to find it. When I returned home and checked your website I realised that I had walked past the end of Albert road south without seeing any indication. If you find that you do not get many visiting tourists this may give you a clue why.
