This place is freaking fabulous. We here all the time. Their breakfast is the best, Shrimp and grits are one of my favorites. But what really hooked me n my family is the garlic stuffed roast dinner. Its a Sunday family tradition I remember as far back as 1995. Moved 2 years ago, wish I lived closer. Still visit as much as possible. One of st bernards best dining establishments. My wife is a freak over the Veal Swiss
Well me n my mom has been going there since before Katrina. I always get the mestballs n spaghetti with the bacon garlic string beans. My mother always gets the pork chops n macaroni. The place has changed in the past year, it looks really nice. You should check it out for yourself. U wont believe this lil gem in da heart of Violet.
We have been here three times. The second to last time, our food was brought out on chipped plates and it was cold!! This last time we ordered our appetizer and main meal.. after the app was served and we where waiting a good half an hour and the waitress slinks over to the table to let us know that they were out of red beans (which is what i ordered, my husband ordered a steak). I couldnt believe my ears.. after waiting for nearly an hour total she finally finds the time to come over and tell us that they didnt have one of our meals. And no, it wasnt busy in this dump at all.. two other couples in there at the time!! I told her this was unacceptable and that we where done here. Oh they convienently dont take credit or debit cards.. but there is an atm which they own. My husband had to use the atm which charged a 2.75 fee to pay for the order of onion rings and 2 teas we had!! Oh and all thier plates must be chipped and cracked because once again the onion rings where on a chipped plate!! DISGUSTING DISGUSTING DISGUSTING!! I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone!!
Had lunch at Charlie's on Thursday and the food was great. I tried the french bread pizza and loved it! I am only in St. Bernard on Thursdays and usually go to Charlie's for lunch. I have never gotten anything that wasn't great. My husband loves the beans and my sister loves the baked chicken dinner. Keep up the good work!
Used to eat here regularly when I was working in da Parish, and I sure miss it. Everything I ever tried was top notch. And the portions are huge! If you ever get to down to Violet, you've got to eat here.
DO NOT go here! Horrible, slow service. Wait staff are rude and truly act as if they resent being at work. The cook came out while we were waiting...some huge guy that looked filthy...and had a filthy mouth...acting silly with the worthless waitresses. Food was cold when they finally brought it. Just not a good experience. Don't waste your time or money here.
I eat here all the time. White beans are one of my favorites. Crawfish and corn soup is to. Sweet servers and nice comfortable place. Its cheaper for me to dine out then to cook for myself. and they know how to cook thats for sure
i use to go all the time now its a was of time unless you or one of the faces they see every day your going to get bad service...you would think they would at least act like they care when i told one of the waitress that my food was cold an the outher waitress was roud i heard well she dont feel like working ....its such a shame there food used to be so good like i said used to be..unless they get new waitress i will never go back or recommened them to anyone....
Me and my gmaw eat here a lot. Roast beef is the best. We had the char-broiled oysters 2 ways, yummy. and the Seafood gumbo is the best i ve ever tasted. I give 4stars but bump to up to 5 because its so close to home in order to get food like this we have to travel 30 min or more. Thanks Charlie
