I love how everyone rating this place highly has to make a point of how they ve supposedly had sooo much experience w/ sushi restaurants. A super trendy joint like this can do no wrong and will still attract crowds of suckers. The sushi was not very fresh and way overpriced for the quality (esp. the sashimi). $28 sashimi dinner didn t even come w/ soup or salad, AND they even charge $3 for a small bowl of rice. The service was very though, but they put some tacky reminder on the sushi menu about tipping the sushi chef--uh, yeah right. It was kind of funny how people were waiting b/c they had a bunch of tables reserved even though they were unoccupied for about an hour.

I have eaten at many sushi restaurants in the area and this one is by no means close to the best. My wife and I went there in the early evening on a weeknight. We were promptly seated at a table with a great view of the river. That was by far the best part of the experience. This was not good sushi. This place is very trendy and chic....if you want to impress a date with views....go here. If she really likes sushi....take her someplace else. There are several places in town with far better food at much lower prices.

So-so Sushi, Great View
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/10
Agree that you need to make reservations - but if you don't there is a great outdoor deck that you can have drinks on or sit at the bar while waiting. Sushi is not the best I have ever had and is mostly over priced, but you're paying for the ambiance, location, and view.

One of the best sushi bars I've ever eaten at. Setting is great, drinks are strong, and the people are beautiful. Dress to impress!!

Over Priced Average Meal

If you want good sushi at a reasonable price, go somewhere else. If you want to get shiut faced drunk with some of Baton Rouge's hottest women, this is the place to be. Many of BR's elite can be found up here on the 6th floor of the Shaw Center from time to time too.

The ultimate chill spot..
By Tasha, 5/31/06
Tsunalmi is located on top of the shaw center for the arts. It is one of the nicest evening spots in the city. It has a real laid back atmosphere and the food is great.

Gimmick
By Go_Cubs_Go_Tigers, 5/22/06
I am from Japan and have been to numerous Japanese restraurants. I heard all good things about this place when it opened. Boy, was I disappointed. To be fair, I tried twice, lunch and dinner. My experience was the same in both times. The waitress didn't know the difference between Sushi and Sashimi, and we got a wrong order. Combination "dinners" didn't come with rice (!?). We made an extra order for a whopping $3! And the rice was sushi rice (with vinegar) microwaved!!! You NEVER do that. Sushi rice is cold/lukewarm and regular hot rice is without vinegar. Even 5-year old kids know that in Japan. Sushi counter has a design flaw, which picks up dusts. The vegetable which came with the dinner was way too spicy. None of us (four in all who like spicy stuff) could eat it. Sure, this is a great place for a date. Take your love who knows little about Japanese foods. She will be impressed, particularly with the view. One word to describe this restraurant; Gimmick. This, by the way, was felt by everyone I went there with.
