Blackfriars Tavern, Plymouth

Blackfriars Tavern is right on the Barbican, a very special area of Plymouth which has retained its maritime character. There is a delightful courtyard with climbing plants and flowery pots where you can sit out and eat in the sun. The interior displays the soft Cornish landscapes of a local artist, Gerry Hillman. In addition to wonderful fish and seafood, there are dishes for vegetarians and curry lovers, steaks, and an extensive wine list. Sizzling Prawns and Scallops, one of their specialities, tastes as good as it sounds. You will find that the staff are very helpful and that children are welcome.
