My friend and I came to 4 Olives on a Monday night to celebrate selling her horse and were very pleased with our evening. We both started with the bruschetta and were delighted by the sweet kalamata olives on top. We both decided to go out of our comfort zones and try things we never had before; She had the andouille and I had the lamb shank. We both were pleasantly surprised by the flavorful meat and presentation. The risotto with the lamb shank was fantastic and really added to the flavor. After a good meal we decided to have the apple bread pudding. It is both of our favorite desserts so we had high expectations and they were well met! It was a great evening that was quiet and relaxed.
Wine list is outstanding and the food is over-the-top, to-die-for. Hands down, the best risotto I ve ever had. Very impressive awards collection and nothing on the menu disappoints. Crab dip, crab cakes, filet, scallops, rabbit, specials--everything is phenomenal. Cannot recommend it highly enough!!
I have had the pleasure of dining at 4 Olives five times now, and it has been outstanding each time. We lived in Germany years ago, and their selection of German wines is very impressive, even if it was in New York! Actually the whole wine list is out of this world, I think they have about 800 wines on the list, and we found out form our very helpful server that all the wines are half price on Tuesdays. The food has been excellent each time, the seafood is amazing. I had a better tuna dish there then when we were in Hawaii last year! They are also about the only place in Manhattan to get a great cocktail. I had the Manhattan with the rye whiskey my server recommended, and it was to die for. Bravo, we will be back often.
Far from impressed :( First we made reservations a month in advance and were forced to wait over 30 mins after our reservation for a table. We wanted to order from the full menu but was told it wasn't being offered (That would have been nice to know in advance) The waitress was ok but didn't bother to tell us we could do a split option. The main reason for wanting to try here was because of the full menu not one that was decided for us.
One of our absolute favorites places in town! It's very elegant, but not stuffy. My husband and I enjoy how the sous-chef will come out and visit and explain meal preparation. The absinthe is perfection. I will go there just to have their specialty tonic water in my drink.
4 Olives has the class and quality cuisine of restaurants in Manhattan, NYC! When I travel from Washington, DC to Manhattan, KS I never miss an opportunity to dine at 4 Olives. The wine list is amazing and the chef prepares locally grown foods into delicious and creative meals. Furthermore, the staff is well-versed in special dietary issues, like gluten free foods. I can't wait to go back!
I live in Texas and have been to this unique restuarant about 12 times. I have always been impressed by the excellent food, services and ambiance each and every time. My wife and I will always dine exclusively at this restuarant whenever we are in Manhattan, Ks. The owner and chef always makes you welcome when you dine here. I just wish we could dine here more often. Four Olives is a one of a kind dining experience.
The only place in MHK to have a wide selection of well-made cocktails. Harry's or Della Voce can do a martini right, but don't expect to get drinks like a caipirinha, blue blazer, or gimlet anywhere but here.
