All in One Place

for anyone interested in the classics, this museum is a revelation. it is almost hidden away but once found (up the stairs in a non-descript building) you enter a world where you can see a full-size cast of almost every famous greek and roman statue you have ever heard of, or seen in a book. and in some cases, the casts are probably now in better shape than the originals (like the cast of trajan's column in the v&a in Llondon).
the displays are rather close together (space is limited) and it is in some ways more like a store room than a standard museum. but this is part of the museum's charm as you really feel that you are exploring - and you are not bothered by officious warders and staff. and entry is free!
highly recommended for regular return visits.
