Our family recently dined at the Kopper Kettle Inn, in Morristown Indiana. (Mother’s day 13 May, 2012). The building itself is a converted early 1900 s home with very well done gardens surrounding the Inn. With the home style architecture, the dining area was very noisy due to the large crowd (somewhat understandable) but almost impossible to have a conversation using a normal tone and volume. There were a total of 9 of us in the party with an additional 4 that had to cancel due to family illness. None the less, the personnel at this establishment still charged us for the original 13, which may be somewhat acceptable considering reservations, busy day etc. even though there were always empty seats throughout the dining area. The food was plentiful but honestly not that outstanding. Large bowls were brought to the table (Mash potatoes, green beans) as well as the main meat which was chicken. Both the potatoes as well as green beans weren t that hot when served and naturally cooled quickly. The green beans seemed to be loaded with stems indicating a lower quality institutional size can that was used. The salad (although plentiful) was at best the most plain salad I ve ever been served. (Lettuce, radishes, cucumbers and a few croutons.) The chicken although good, wasn t anything any better than could be purchased at Kroger’s from the Deli. The biggest issue I have is the price. I feel that we were over charged to say the least. In checking the normal pricing during the week, it appears that $16.95 was an average going price for a meal. For Mother’s day, the price jumped to a minimum of $25.00 per person. I feel that this was very expensive considering the average quality of the meal. The resulting bill for this meal was $321.00 which included an automatic 18% gratuity. If it were just me, I d say that it was just a personal assessment of this establishment, but all of the members of our party were in agreement. Average (at best), over priced and over hyped considering other establishments where better food at lower pricing was and is available. We won t be back.
