Description
The church we see now was built in the 16th century on the site of a temple that had once existed here. It has a Latin cross layout and a single nave covered by crossed rib vaults. In the interior there is an impressive altarpiece dating from 1560. Another noteworthy feature is the sarcophagus situated in the San Exuperio chapel. The entranceway, which is Renaissance in style, is protected by a portico added in the 17th century. The bell tower is unusually found separated from the church and, according to some historians, once housed lodgings but was later converted for the bells. Mass times: M-F 7p, 11a (bilingual); Su & Holidays 1p & 7p (in Basque).
