The Loftus Stadium is one of the biggest and oldest stadiums in South Africa. From its inception, the stadium was meant to cater for Rugby fans, which is why it plays host to some of the best local and international rugby games in the country. However, the stadium also plays host to both local and international soccer matches. Situated not far from the University of Pretoria and other interesting attractions, it is accessible from the City Centre.
I've been to all the big rugby stadiums and Loftus was the best. The crowd is great, the fans are so passionate
and the atmosphere is like none other.I'm a Bulls fan since I was a kid and even when we were not the best team around at that time Loftus was still amazing.
Even when the springboks play at Loftus they play twice as good.If your a big rugby fan Loftus is definately the place to go and watch.
Where else in the world do you find a stadium that sends shivers down the spine of the opposition based purely on atmosphere?More daunting a challenge in terms of venue you cannot find, barring the "House of Pain" perhaps, although that is largely due to the weather and given the fact that its situated less than 3000miles to the South Pole! The Loftus local is the very definition of the fanatical fan which is probably testament to the die-hard, beer guzzling, wors eating afrikaans culture that institutions such as Loftus breed. As a tourist, if you looking for a cultural eye opening experience...hit the Versveld, if you are a "soutie" leave your road rage at home, you'l find more than just trouble.
