The Merlion (Sentosa)
This is one of the few tourist attractions in Singapore where you have to pay for panorama alone. Take an elevator up to the Mouth Gallery on the ninth storey, then climb the stairs to the crown on the 12th storey for a bird's eye view of Sentosa, the mainland, the port and the southern isles. At night, concealed fiber optic lighting imparts a glowing silhouette to The Merlion, while its legend is retold every evening at the Sentosa Musical Fountain.
When you enter Sentosa Island either from round or sky, the first thing that is visible in the distance is the giant Merlion, Guardian of Singapore Island.
When you enter the statue and you get to see the actual history of the Merlion and how it was thought into existance and the way the Singapore culture reveres it, you feel abit awed.
The Fast Elevator ride and the small climb to look out the mouth, or a little more climbing gets you to the top of this eight story statue, and you feel a little let down. Although there is a great view of the whole Sentosa Island from the top.
The gift shop is full of tourist items, and the prices definantly show it as they are very expensive.
All in All if you are on Sentosa you should check out the Merlion, but dont plan a trip there just to see it.
Beginning from the cable car experience, it was showed out to be a great choice. Passing the woods, forests, hills and rivers in the air was something unforgetable. The Dolphin show there was wonderful. After that we passed by their under see aquarium which was magnificent. Their beach is one of the best in the whole world. Their souvenirs are fair in prices and they still make us remember this marvelous place. They meal they served was aproppriate. They had a fabulous fountain sho which lasts in our mind forever. The landscape there is wonderful, the service is of high standard, it's a very satisifying trip that you ould never forget. If you traveled to Singapore ithout visiting Sentosa island, you missed half of your life!!
