Jurong Bird Park
Description
The Asia Pacific's largest indoor aviary. The world's largest collection of Southeast Asian birds. The world's tallest artificial waterfall. Need we say more? This 20.2-hectare landscaped park is home to more than 8,000 birds of 600 species. The numerous enclosures and bird shows provide plenty to see, from free-flying falcons in a simulated hunt to parading penguins on a make-believe Antarctic beach. Most spectacular is the Waterfall Aviary, a simulated tropical rainforest housing uncaged African and South American species. Also not to be missed are the South-east Asian Birds Aviary and the nocturnal house.
A Singapore experience wouldn’t be complete without a day at the Jurong Bird Park. There, we saw all kinds of birds one couldn’t ever imagine. We first took a monorail ride around the park before we explored the area on our own. At least, that already gave us an idea on how big the place was. Birds of prey were inside cages while the ones that thrive in wetlands are kept in the open. Try to catch the birds show at the Pools Amphitheatre and the pelicans’ feeding time.
Don’t miss: To feed the lories at the lory loft. They are my favorites! You don’t have to go after them. They’ll come to you when they see the cup in your hand.
Be amazed by the: Penguins. You’ll remember Happy Feet when you see them.
I feel that it is rather stuffy and hot but the shows are brilliant. They should work on the atmosphere but it is a good idea to not keep the birds in an enclosed area , instead, they let them fly around and that attracts many people. It is also very peaceful.
I enjoyed the many species of birds. The habitats were also beautiful with colorful plants and flowers. Fun outing with family or friends for a stroll, casual day.
I can see that the animals there are really well taken care of...And the cleaness is almost perfect...The staff there is polite...even if i had lots of problems she still is very patient to me..greats...
a complete visit to the park should take you more than five hours... if i didn't have to catch a flight, i would have stayed longer... birds of all shapes and sizes are there to be seen. and the bird show is amazing. try to visit during week days to avoid the swarming crowds during the weekend...
Excellent Place to visit in Singapore. The spectacular bird show is the very interesting and unavoidable one. Kids can enjoy a lot and adults can explore the multicultural birds and peoples.
But not advisible to go during Aug.. the climate was very humid, otherwise very important place.
