Wah Lok (Carlton Hotel)

Description

This is a place for Cantonese cuisine as well as dim sum dishes. Dated but elegant decor greets diners--from black lacquered chairs to golden Chinese murals on the walls. Wah Lok has a wide selection of dim sum dishes and they are all well prepared. Also worth trying are the double-boiled soups; prawns wrapped with shredded potatoes and seasonal dishes. The wine list is small--mainly French and New World wines and a few Chinese labels. You may be better off bringing in your own drinks as there is, thankfully, no corkage charge.

Good unique set menu
By Peng Wee, 10/28/07
THe set menu is unqiue. Food quality is excellent especially the shark's fin, scallops and unique dessert. Even the fried chicken is juicy. Service is good as staff is attentive. However, only bug bear is that they should serve the most impt guest first.

Best Dim Sum in Singapore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/07
Great place to yum cha. Authentic food at reasonable price. Tasty 5* food. The ambience is in a typical Chinese setting, could be grander though. service staff speaks bad english but with good service attitude.

yummy dim sum
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/19/07
i would strongly recommend this place for its dim sum. i love their steamed carrot cake which i have not seen in other places before. its served in small bowls and you scoop it from there and its soft and just very easily to swallow.

Excellent Chinese cuisine! Can't wait to go again!
By Shir Nee, 12/29/05
Has Best Restaurant awards consecutively for many years. Excellent Chinese cuisine, though can be pricey. However, the quality of the food warrants such price. Good that most credit cards give discounts, e.g. UOB. The prawn hor fun, hot plate beef, stir-fried veg with oyster sauce, steamed fish, 'begger chicken' (must pre-order a couple of days b4 visiting) and desserts are must-try! However, its cheaper sister 'Noo-gee' which serves nooidles and congee at much lower, mass market prices, serve lousy food. Do not compromise.

Can't wait to go back!
By Wu So Low, 11/26/05
Food is very good, with Hong Kong chef. Service is great. Location in a hotel also make it convenient with plenty of parking. Really value for money.
