Morton's of Chicago (Oriental Hotel)

Description

Prime USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) beef is the highlight of this restaurant established in 1998. Indulge in juicy porterhouse steak as you relax within the elegant dark-wood interiors and soft lighting. Those eager for a more spicy dish can try the Cajun ribeye steak. Be forewarned--portions are generally large. For dessert, the Godiva chocolate cake (with liquid chocolate!) gets everyone's vote. American wines, particularly those from the Napa Valley, tend to dominate the international wine list; some are priced at more than SGD2,500. Service is faultless, efficient and friendly.

Good food but awful service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/15/09
The steak was great. Loved it! Hat's off to the chef! With regards to service, I think these folks have delusions of adequacy. Maitre de at the front desk left us feeling like we were not up to his standard to let us in the place and just blew the whole first impression situation. Table service was reasonable, but could not hear the waitress talking about menu etc. (background noise, not all her fault). Even getting a slice of lemon in a glass of sparkling water was too much of a challenge to endure to get the result we wanted. Wine list was so ludicrously expensive vs. quality of wine it was crazy, even by Singapore standards. Some attempted humour by the staff left us pretty bewildered, rathen than amused. Overall, disappointing and won't go back again to this overated eatery.

Wonderful Steak!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/08
I can't tell you how much I enjoy a good piece of steak! The appetizer I always order is lobster bisque which is "Oh so delicious.....very very creamy but yet so good!" and the double fillet mignon as my absolute main course. I have got no problem polishing off a medium-cooked chunk of beef from Morton's anytime! My absolute treat/ comfort food!!!

Excellent eats in Singapore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/07
Singapore's a great place if you're into Chinese, Indian, or Malay cuisines (and a whole lot more!), but every once in a while you want red meat, and a lot of it. Morton's is the place to go, then. A bit spendy, but well worth it.

Was good
By Ng(, 12/20/06
I'm a steak lover. Both me & my partner loves a good piece of steak.I've personally been to many steakhouses or restaurants, Morton's has been one of my top list for steaks. Just the other day,I went to Just Steak at Riverwalk, found that their Prime steaks are much better than Mortons. They prices are also quite pricey.

Best Steak in Town
By Stephan, 4/21/06
The meat is just great, can not be better. Very good service: Before you can eat, you have to listen to a description of all the different meat they serve - gives a lot of appetite. A little bit pricey, but definitely worth it.

I know how special I am when my date takes me there...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/04
I liked the atmosphere, and the attention from the staff. It is romantic, and def not a place for kids. The food is fresh and really well done! I love the fresh oysters, and the seared scallops. Their chocolate cake is to die for.

MORTONS OF CHICAGO
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/04
Absolutely the BEST Steakhouse in Singapore! My favorite things on the menu besides juicy big steaks are the crab cakes, caesar salad and tender shrimp alexander appetizer. MORTONS gets my vote for the BEST SERVICE and FOOD in Singapore!
