The high point on Wellington's Southern Walkway, Mount Victoria, is easily accessible by foot or vehicle and is undoubtedly the capital city's favorite lookout. The site is popular with both tourists and locals for its spectacular bird's-eye view of the city and surrounds.
To say the view is breathtaking is a understatement. But if you go at night, when the city is all lite up, its beautiful. Besides the very curvy drive up/ride up, there is no cost involved. The woods along the sides were also used in the filming in lord of the rings.
