This place, on busy Cuba Street, is seldom empty, which is indicative of the great atmosphere and interesting international menu. There are two dining areas simply decorated with enigmatic black and white photographs and original art and a spacious courtyard at the rear of the restaurant. Saturday night is jazz night, and on Thursdays feel free to bring your own wine. Serves great coffee all day and marvellous meals. Mains such as Fish of the Day with herbs, mustard and caramelised onions are on offer. Licensed.
In my opinion Olive makes the best coffee in Wellington! I have tried other places but most of them can't seem to get it quite right. Their coffee is consistant, so you won't go there and get a good coffee one day and a bad one the next. Their cakes are also delicious, their hot chocolates are to die for, and their honey lemon and ginger drinks are good too. Havn't actually tried a meal there, but definately plan to one day. I would hightly recomend Olive to anyone wanting to go for a really good coffee and cake.
I've been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never had a bad experience. The menu is constantly changing and the wine list is excellent.
The courtyard on a sunny day is a lovely little sun-trap so can be great for weekend brunch. They also have a great pre-theatre offer. Service is friendly and efficient.
I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy eating here.

Well known Wellington priest and culinary expert, Father Des Britten, recommends it any time. The dark wood interior, crowded tables,
