This small, elegant, friendly, award-winning restaurant catering for sophisticated tastes is a must for romantics. The decor and old villa atmosphere will remind you of times gone by as you think about times to come. The dishes, such as Seared Duck Breast with Brown and Oyster Mushrooms and Fig and Beetroot Relish, are not cheap but are of a high standard. It is also known for its great desserts and pre-theatre suppers. Parties are catered for upstairs.
I visited the Roxburgh Bistro with a group of friends from work, and was blown away by the food. The atmosphere is hard to describe as the restaurant is built inside what is basically an old house in a fairly unassuming street just off Wellingtons Courtney Place. The inside is quite understated, but everything changes once the food comes out.
If you're looking for a wonderful eating experience then this is one of Wellingtons top five places to go, and sits in company with Logan Browns and the Boulcott Street Bistro. Don't miss it. The food is NZ contemporary and it's cooked to perfection.
