This top-class restaurant, situated in an 1870s colonial house, exudes an intimate, relaxed and friendly ambience. Spacious but intimate dining and bar facilities are offered, as well as an attic room suitable for small private functions. The distinguished a la carte menu features fresh seasonal foods with a French influence. Delicious main entrees such as Pan Roasted Fillet Steak with Pomme Frites and Bearnaise Sauce are available. There is a quality wine list and full bar. Evening seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Great place to eat in the capital

We hadn't been to Boulcott Street Bistro for a couple of year and always remembered it fondly. Our memories were only enhanced - the fish with a capsicum puree and clams was beautiful and fresh, my friend had the venison and thought it was tender and delicious. The staff were as friendly as I remembered and the the barman made me one great martini!

Not at all child friendly

Nice, stylish and cosy place. But, this is a popular establishment and the tables are very close together. Do not take small children here. We (mistakenly) took our toddler with us. One of the staff was rather rude with us in asking us to quieten our son. It was not necessary - a quiet word would have been sufficient, most parents don't want to disturb others. Unless you have children capable of eating in near silence - don't bring them with you. There are other establishments in Wellington, just as nice, which are more welcoming.
