Pulau Perhentian Besar

Description

This island is a myriad of activity — jungle trekking, snorkeling, canoing, windsurfing, coral spotting, scuba diving, fishing trips and island hopping. In fact, it literally lies a bunny's hop from one jungle to another. Famed for its two hills, Atap Zing and Barat, it is home to an enourmous variety of flora and fauna. Chalets located here include Radin Resort, Safaries and Perfect Life Resort. Pulau Besar is an hour away from Mersing by normal boat, and 30 minutes by speedboat. Alternatively, charter your own at the jetty from early morning onwards.

the most beautiful island in the world
By Hisel, 5/3/08
that the word can i say. i planed want to go there again next year. Imagine a beautiful tropical island. Its beaches are covered with soft white sands. The island itself is like a fairy-tale garden – an ocean of flowers and exotic trees.

So bad that we cut short our trip!
By Dearie, 4/20/06
I have booked a 3D/2N package with my husband & 2 other couple friends to Pulau Besar for the Good Friday hols on 14 May 06. However I packed up & left after 1 night stay at the Aseania Resort. This place is probably the worst I have stayed in my entire travelling experience. I don’t expect luxury for the little amount we paid for, but I do expect basic/standard cleanliness of the surrounding, room/bathroom & clean drinking water. There was a swimming pool but it should be called an algae pool and a breeding heaven for the mosquitoes. The pool water was so dark & filthy that I had thought it was a mud bath for the hotel guests. Fine, we could live with the filthy pool as long as we stayed away from it. But not for the drinking water. The drinking water served was dirty and filled with many tiny particles. The water was in whitish colour and looked like they have dissolved calcium tablets in it. You need to close both eyes and courage to drink it. All utensils, plates & cups were dirty and not cleaned probably. Food served was limited and the guests would snap up all food while the slower ones will have to wait for round 2 & 3....Having a meal there is not enjoyable when u have to kill/fend off the mosquitoes while eating. Must-bring items: Insect repellent/medicated oil & bottled mineral water!! Otherwise go elsewhere for your holiday!

Aseania Pulau Besar, I'll be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/16/05
It's the nearest among the Johor island group off Mersing, a mere 20 minutes' boat ride away. The coconut trees, fine white sand and crystal clear water make a perfect weekend getaway. Three resorts plus one under construction await you for a memorable experience. Aseania Resort is strongly recommended, with great food, well maintained units and most hospitable staff, not to mention its budget pricing! An island-hopping, snorkelling or fishing trip can be arranged at the counter. You may choose to trek along the jungle path behind the resort to a secluded beach on the other side of the island. A 3D2N package with 6 meals including boat transfers cost RM270 (approx. US$70). Compare to Rawa, Sibu and Tioman, this one definitely stands out. 1 re-visit is not enough!
