Moldy mooncake
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/07
Last Saturday, I bought a "mixed nuts" mooncake from this Lavender outlet at Giant Plentong. The mooncake from this so called famous cake shop has turned bad....the whole mooncake actually got molded before its expiry date (I should have taken a photo of it!). Gosh! You won't be able to imagine how moldy it is. Immediately, I took the mooncake (together with its wrapper/box) back to the same shop. The supervisor there claimed that the problem lied in the packaging, as the factory just bought a new packaging machine from Hong Kong. And it seemed that the sealing wasn't tight enough. To my dismay, she actually has the gut to say that "We also had similar problem in our first batch. Unfortunately this time, we couldn't recall the products from all stalls". This is really bad! They should have noticed it and shouldn't have sold it to the market. What kind of attitude is this? How can they be so irresponsible! They should be more concern about the quality of their food product. Since it's in the market now, I believe there will be quite a number of people who will be exposed to this mouldy product. I just hope that these people will notice it before they take their first bite, especially little children and the elderly ones.
