Nagamachi Yuzenkan, Kanazawa-Shi

Situated in the midst of the historic Nagatamachi Samurai area, the building is a charming Meiji era tea master's former residence. Kaga Yuzen artisans now use it as a workshop. Yuzen is a hand painting kimono technique which got to Kanazawa via Yuzensai Miyazaki, Kyoto's well-known silk-dyer. This is an opportunity to both hear a talk on the actual process as well as to observe first hand the lively patterns being painted onto the delicate fabric.
