Spanish Town Market
Description
The historic city of Spanish Town comes alive on market day. Every Saturday, the town becomes a swarming sea of humanity, handcarts and foodstuff. From as early as 5:30a shoppers can be seen doing their shopping. Vendors spill out into the streets, taking over Cumberland Road. A sea of colors and smells assails the senses. Various fruits in season, mangoes, pineapples, and ripe bananas add color. Vegetables of all sorts—carrots, tomatoes, share stalls with ground produce such as yams and potatoes. Mini supermarkets selling flour and tin goods can also be found.
