The Ruins Restaurant, Ocho Rios

we had a large party we had made reservations for and they were not ready for us. the food was great. we took lots of pictures in front of the fall, although the rest of it looks a bit weathered. the service was not that great (slow, incorrect orders, unfriendly waitresses) and the cost was really high. (two people had a bill of $142 in our party). we would not eat here again.

The easy way to enjoy waterfalls, which is no less thrilling, is to dine at The Ruins at the Falls, walking distance from the bustling town center and cruise ship pier. It's even more of a surprise than Dunn's River Falls. Its standard-issue parking lot, which opens directly onto the busy main road, appears routine enough. But as soon as you walk through the arched restaurant entrance, you're deep inside a tropical paradise enclosing a magnificent wide falls. Rather than get in it, however, you sit immediately beside it at tables on an open air terrace shaded by huge banyan and fig trees and hanging foliage. Little decorative bridges take you over the Turtle River, the ever present sound of the rushing falls as background. Levels and terraces of the river create pools filled with colorful carp and other fish, flowers, photo ops and a general sense of exotic romance. It's a perfect location for a wedding.

I love everything about this place and Jamaica! The people the food and the overall beauty of the island. Amazing Place. I would definitely reccomend that anyone looking for a fun island with lots of territory to explore should go to Jamaica.

The location and visual aspect of this place was amazing. Even though the food is nothing special it is a worthy stop. Read up on the location prior to visiting as you will enjoy it more.

Very nice decor and setting, but unfortunately thee food was not good at all, and way to pricey for the quality. Service was decent but this restaurant is not good enough to make me want to come back

This resturant has some of the most courteous staff, and wonderful chefs you can ever dream of....The price is right too. I am Jamaican and travel all over the world and never experience a romantic setting like this before. It's beyond the ordinary...Just georgeous

Add splendour to your day by visiting this tropical paradise that has a beautiful 40 foot natural waterfall right in the center of it. Yes, you read it right! It's the most incredible thing I've ever seen. The waterfall adds charm to the ambiance. The tables and chairs are arranged right in front of the falls. You will be able to hear the relaxing sounds of the falls. There's a beautiful koi pond that surrounds the restuarant also. They offer a lunch buffet at a very reasonable price. The food is scrumptious! They offer Jamaican, and Chinese foods on the buffet as well as soups and fresh baked breads. Although I ate there for lunch, I heard that dinner is a wonderful romantic experience. I plan to go there for dinner next time. The Jerk chicken that is specially cut for you by a friendly server.

The atmosphere was great!! The food was too pricey and bland!! It took almost 1 1/2 hours to get our order. We were the first people to arrive for dinner. People coming in after us had we served before us. We had 6 people in our party. Everyone's meal was served at different times. They forgot to prepare one appetizer and one order (Surf and Turf) which was awful.The meal was served with instant mashed potatoes. For $35.00US, I would expect real potatoes. When we spoke to the manager about the slow service and food preparation, he replied " Oh it is okay ,you ate the food it is okay now." He did not offer a discount, and told us each meal was special order which is why it took so long. It only takes about 5 minutes to boil water for instant mashed potates. The other meals were simple oriental stir fry plates. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Go in take pictures in front of the falls and LEAVE!! Go down the street to the smaller places next to Island Village (Bills) Way better food and service at a fraction of the cost!!

I loved the atmosphere as soon as I walked into the restaurant. I was blown away by the water falls and the tremendous beauty that the place has. The only part that I regret, is that it was the only place that no one in my group remembered to bring their camera. So the only picture that I have of that wonderful place is a postcard that my Grandmother gave me. I would love to go back here someday.

100% good food, I really don't expect such a high quality of food and service can be found in Jamaica. Lobster bisque is cooked at our table side, what an experience in such a nice ambiance. Service is excellent, the price is not cheap but reasonable. Would recommand to anybody I know, thank you!!
