Cosmo's Seafood Restaurant & Bar

Description

You will find this amiable restaurant situated on the "hip strip" and right on Negril's famous seven-mile beach, an ideal spot. This restaurant serves authentic Jamaican cuisine, but is best known for their specialty seafood dishes. The ambience, whether you opt to dine outdoors or indoors, is great. Sweet strains of music, reggae, soca or oldies, add that extra special touch. Lots of natural wood finishes add a rustic feel. The menu includes Fried Fish & Bammy, Grilled Fish of the Day and Curried Shrimp. The bar serves beverages and liquors to wash down a tasty meal. Make sure to drink a Red Stripe Beer.

Yearly visit

I like the food at Cosmo's. It's fairly in expensive compairing to what you get at other places. My husband and I go to Cosmo's every year and we've never been treated anyway different. He is very courteous. I do agree that sometimes the food may take a little long but one must remember it's not a fast food joint.

Owner has no maaners
By ,
I must say that the owner Cosmo Brown has no manners, to think that he is in a environment that deals with customers. But I guess we are not white/or better yet, we are not tourist, so we should not have come to his establishment to dine or go to the beach. The food was cold, the conch soup was terrible, everything went wrong that day, I personally will not go back there to dine, neither will my friends and trust me I have alot and we do go places.

Jamaica, No Problem
By ,
I've been to Jamaica seven times and I also make my way to Cosmos. I read those other reviews, and honestly do not agree. Jamaica does not have fast service. Jamaica is laid back; nothing is fast or rushed. The food is as fresh as the sea; I suggest the Conch chowder. The view is perfect. The staff is friendly. My dad has a story from when he went there 25 years ago. He and his buddies were the only ones there, and they ordered food and were waiting for like an hour and a half. A goat jumped up on the table an they were laughing and shoo-ing it away. The cook walked out of the kitchen, holding a big knife in his hand, and said "what's up, mon" and my dad pointed to the goat and laughed, and he said "damn goat" and walked back into the kitchen. This is the atmosphere of jamaica. The only things that are fast there are the cars and the language, and i wouldnt want it any other way. Nothing is better than a country, and a restaurant, that forces you to slow down. Jamaica, no problem, mon. Irie.

Would not recommend

Party of thirteen (adults & children) - we went to find a spot on the beach and then went to hire loungers and was told they wouldn't hire us the chairs as even though we were foreign (afro carribean english)we were not welcomed there.

Never Go back!!!
By ,
The hotel we stayed at recommended them for seafood. We ordered a shrimp dinner and they were popcorn size shrimp. Nothing special. They were very overpriced. While waiting for our food there were only 2 other couples there. They were extremely slow. We looked over and the waitresses were sitting in chairs with their heads resting on their arms leaning on the table. Needless to say when we go back to Negril we won't be going to Cosmo's.
