More than a restaurant, this is a shop with an unusual layout, where the produce is not displayed but is served to the customer. After tasting, all the products can be bought and sent all over the world. They offer meats as well as cheese, pasta, excellent wines, cooking herbs, aromatic oils, local sweets and desserts.
Wonderful food and outstanding service. A 3 person team can handle a party of 20 without leaving the rest of us wanting. Amazing to watch this woman serve 20 people in no time at all. we watched her prepare an amazing dish cooking in a huge wheel or parm chees, sadly we never learned the name of this dish but the food we had was wonderful. We did not feel it was expensive at all for the quality of the food we had.
My friend and I came here after passing by the window and seeing a picture of a pasta dish with tons of seafood. The service was outstanding and the food delicious. Tons of seafood to choose from. Pricey but definitely worth it!
Without a doubt this is my favorite restaurant in the world. I am not exaggering! I discovered by chance this restaurant in 1994. Ever since every time I visit Italy I have no doubt in making a stopover in Siena just for the joy of having dinner at Enzo. To start they have a dish with prosciutto and porcini. Main course fetuccini with truffle. Dessert an apple tart that is a deli. The place is simple but by far the food is excellent. I can assure that after being there at least 20 times since 1994 it is difficult that anyone can find a better place. It is rather expensive though.
We visited this restaurant as its outward appearance and the proclamations in the window suggested it would be an excellent dining experience. We ordered the 'fish tasting menu' and clarified with the waitress that this was a dish for 2 people, however it became apparant when they brought a second starter that this was not the case, however rather than accepting that they had made a mistake the woman running the restaurant floor immediately issued us with a bill for €130 (the full price of 2 full fish tasting menus) and her previously excellent english descended to responding 'don't understand' repeatedly.
However our main complaint is with the food itself. All the fish dishes were bland and consisted of small quantities of salad leaf of pasta covered with clams and very little else. We asked specially to try the lobster ravioli, what arrived was a thin parcel, horribly burnt on the outside and filled with a flavourless mush that can only have contained the tiniest amount of lobster.
Bear in mind that at current exchange rates this restaurant is comparable in cost with Michelin 3* restaurants in the uk, its harsh, bright lighting, appalling service and dreadful food make it an appalling experience. My simple advice is to avoid eating here!
After spending 2 weeks in Italy, this was hands down the best dining experience. From the friendly greeting upon arrival to the delicious desserts, this was our favorite dining experience in Rome, Florence and Tuscany over the past 2 weeks. This family operated (Chef Enzo and his lovely wife and daugthers) provide outstanding flavors, served with world-class presentations in a warm, intimate setting. Clearly a local favorite. I would highly recommend Enzo to anyone traveling near Siena anytime.
Our guide took us (5 of us) there for lunch. The server was so patient and gracious, she stood by our table for over 10 minutes while answering our questions. We all had porcino soup, which was to die for!! The food was not only delicous, but also served beautifully. The chef teaches Italian cooking to foreign chefs and was featured in a cook book.
Looking for somewhere good to eat and came across this place by accident. Saw the menu and said what the heck. What a happy accident! Great staff, great meal, great service! Worth the expense of a multi-course meal! We went for the Traditional menu option and it was great!
I attended a cooking demonstration in Enzo's kitchen while visiting Siena. He and his staff were wonderful -- and after having "been in the back" of the restaurant, I can honestly say that you could eat off the floors. As the owner, Enzo takes immense pride in the freshness of the ingredients and the proper cooking of dishes. We ate lunch there afterwards and it was delicious! The pasta and sauce was made fresh that day. Definitely recommend it.
My husband and I visited Ristorante Enzo during our brief stay in Siena. Enzo was highly recommended by our hotel, and we were very pleased with our dinner. I feel terrible that I didn't get her name, but our hostess was absolutely wonderful. The restaurant has a very flexible menu, where you can order one of their set menus - we ordered the Traditional and Tuscan menus - or you can order two antipastis, two primi, and a main course. My husband had the traditional menu which included a delicious spinach and ricotta ball covered in cream sauce and truffles (yum!), while my tuscan menu included an absolutely divine beef carpaccio. If you're in this part of the world, definitely take the time to eat at Enzo's.
In good weather the garden and the lovely square are used to seat guests who face Trinità dei Monti. The
speciality is Penne Alla Rampa with Gruyère and Speck, and the dishes are mostly traditional like the Ravioli filled ...
