Very disappointing for this apparently high end restaurant
I went to Poggio Antico 5 years ago for dinner. I returned there again for lunch recently. I am still not impressed by this restaurant which is supposed to serve very good food.
Poggio Antico does not serve authentic italian cuisine. The pasta dishes were swimming in too much sauce and most dishes were over salted. My pate was very french style - quite strange for an italian restaurant in the middle of Tuscany.
The service was prompt but slightly condescending. For one course, the waiter actually threw my fork in place next to my plate as he couldn't be bothered to stretch a little further.
The only saving grace was the Poggio Antico wines which were magnificent as usual.
I would not recommend this restaurant as the food is not quite up to the standard of the prices they charge. A simple osteria in any tuscan village will serve more authentic italian food for a third of the price.
