In Via Giovanni Dupre, a few steps from Piazza del Campo (leaving the Campo as you pass Piazza del Mercato), you can descend a flight of stairs and find yourself in this small but pleasant restaurant. Divided into small rooms, it has stone vaults typical of the old town centre and flagged floors. The food is varied and not just Tuscan in style. There is also pizza. Recommended are the tagliolini with pesto sauce, gnocchi with porcini mushrooms, and truffle soup. Also roast rabbit with pine seeds.
My wife and I have eaten here many times between 2002 and 2006. We travel through Italy for six weeks of every year and this is still one of our favorite places to eat. The owners treat you like family and the food and wines are beyond words. If you find yourself in Siena.....try Ristorante Guidoriccio....you will not be disappointed.
