Piazza Marina

Description

Improvements to this area drawn up by Filippo Basile in 1863 resulted in the splendid square we see today. The attractive layout of impressive Garibaldi gardens with their distinctive fig trees makes this one of Palermo's most picturesque spots. Facing each other in the square are Santa Maria dei Miracoli church and 17th century Denti Fatta and 18th century Notarbartolo Greco palaces.

The most beautiful square we ever been
By ,
Great palazzos but much more incredible... huge tropical trees, it seemed to be in a movie. Couldn't really seem to be still in Europe. We thought we had a couple of minutes quick jump in some australian or african land. The palazo chiaramonte is very nice as well. It's a gorgeus palace in a gorgeous piaza. Here it is something nordic middleaged style.. unusual for such a south city (the catherdal and the Normans palace) that give the touch of what this city could be and how fascinating is today. good pizzerias around as well.

Beautiful!
By ,
Piazza Marina it`s a wonderful place because it has Giardino Garibaldi, a beautiful park where you can relax, watch the biggest Ficus Magnolia trees in all Europe. It also has a very nice fountain, beautiful statues and it`s very close to the sea. A great thing about Piazza Marina is that it has very nice places to eat, and, at night, there`s a nice atmosphere.
