This famous restaurant can be found in the heart of the old town, in one of the more well-known streets, an easy and pleasant walk from the Piazza Maggiore. The atmosphere is formal, the decor is old—simple with attention paid to detail. The kitchen offers typical Bolognese dishes: soup with tortellini, tagliatelli with sauce, roast beef, boiled beef, and more. Traditional rice tart and ice cream are dessert menu specialties.

Vastly overrated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/27/10
I currently live in Bologna and attended Diana last month with 3 friends. All of us were disappointed. The food was overpriced, a below average quality, and quite small portions. Overall the food in Bologna is wonderful, but I would never return to this restaurant. There are far better options for the price and quality. I've asked several friends from Bologna and they have not been impressed by Diana either. The general consensus is that they have great PR, but not great food.

The worst in Bologna
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/09
Drove in from Rome just to eat at this restaurant. What a huge disappointment. The service ruined it. Food could have been mediocre but we were so unhappy by that point. The wait staff had no interest in our table and continued to look at his "other groups." Sweating to the point of it DRIPPING on the food! My second set of tableware was just thrown on the table. One order was brought out wrong twice because he wasn't listening(spoke English well.) So many good places in Bologna and we picked this one by reference. Too bad.

Tourist Trap
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/09
Two words describe this restaurant, "Tourist Trap". While the food was prepared well, the service ruined the experience. Our waiter never smiled once and actually got into a slap fight in front of the customers with another member of the staff. Very unprofessional. We sat outdoors under the awning, where we were constantly annoyed by the motorcycles and scooters passing by. (This was on a side street where the traffic was three feet away from us, not the main della Independenza). To end the night the waiter brought us the check and stood over the table as we signed, as if to make sure we didn't leave without paying. All in all, a horrible experience.

Quite good

A poor main course let this restaurant down. We had meat from the 'cart'. Starter and pasta were good though. The service was excellent.

Best food ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/26/07
Without a doubt the finest restaurant I have ever been to. I have been there many times and they always remember me by name and the food is better than outstanding!

not very good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/06
the restaurant is not too bad, but it is quiet expensive and not very typical for bologna. we had a great pasta, but the main course and the side dish was not very good. over all we were disapointed and won't go there the next time, if we will stay in bologna.

Popular with Itlalians
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/06
We were in Bologna for a few hours before our flight and stopped at this Restuarant - we thought the food was great, tortellini in brodo, yummy, and great grilled veggies. All the staff were efficient and quite friendly. It seemed as if the locals used this place as the waiters were exceptionally friendly to certain clientele!! Would go back if waiting for flight again. M & R

better restaurants in Bologna than Diana
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/05
Skip this restaurant and go just up road to Franco Rossi, a romantic little restaurant with much better food, service, and ambiance. Diana has great food, but the restaurant is a bit too large inside and can feel like a cafeteria.

Diana's is worth a visit...
By JorgeS, 07/15/04
I have had the pleasure of visiting Diana three times in the last three years, an all the meals were first rate. The ambiance is cosmopolitan, the food well prepared, and the the service very professional. The pastas could not be any better. Warning: After 8:00 p.m., you need a reservation.
