This is a grand old pub situated on the main Dublin road. Finnegan's dates back to the 17th century; it used to be an old coach stop and forge where horses were shod. It has not lost any of its original comfort or elegance and has kept most of the old stonework and vintage wooden decor intact. An award-winning pub, it has an international reputation for producing the best in local Irish cuisine specialising in mouth-watering steaks and seafood. Food is served until 10p. This is a pub, that combines the elegance of yesteryear with the best in contemporary cuisine.
Called in at lunch time with too colleagues. I asked a waitress if the soup was gluten free only to get a very abrupt "No" as she spun on her heal and walked off before I could ask anything further. The place was filthy, food on the furniture and floor. Carpet sticky and torn and there are just no words to describe the toilets! I have been in Finnegan's numerous times over the years and its shocking how dramatically the standards have dropped. Won't be going back.
Whenever we visit Ireland, we call into Finnegans for a meal. We have always found it to be a most friendly place with excellent service and the food has always been great. The waitresses are always attentive and nothing is too much trouble. It is a great family restaurant too. Give it a go I think you will like it
this was one of the worst establishments i have eaten at in a long time.in my opinion it was comparable to a fast food outlet, food was badly prepared and was of a very poor quality, the basic hygiene of the restaraunt left a lot to be desired and the overall service was poor.
For a premises that comes so highly rated,i was far from convinced. The fact that a premises can recieve awards for quality and then fails to back it up is sub standard and for visitors to our shores leaves a bad taste literally !!!
I like pretty much everything about this place. The only tiny little thing I think could add to the "atmosphere" might be something like candles on table in evenings, and a few large leafy plants, and/or large vases of sweet smelling flowers on reception/bars.
Food portions great, choices - great, value great. Service fast/efficient and food always hot.
If you have any probs with the food they will change it without any fuss. They always give us a large jug of cold water with lemon in it as soon as we sit down. In London you usually always have to request this & sometimes they take advantage and try to charge for this !
My family and I have been eating here for a good 7 years or so now, and I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone. Its a good wholesome, family friendly, cheerful, clean and appetising venue & menu. Well done to all their staff and the proprietor/s.
See you when we are next over. Yvonne & Michael
I agree. I was here recently, it was untidy, with bad service and bad food!!
There was bit's of food and old napkins on the floor under our table. Understandable a young family may have been sitting there before us but would it have killed them to run a brush under the table. Also found the service very bad. Asked for a glass of water with my meal. I'm still Waiting for it....
