This award winning pub and restaurant has lots of delicious options that step beyond the ordinary. The Horseshoe has a traditional pub look with ample seating. On fine days, you can dine alfresco at the tables just outside the door. Service is prompt and cheerful. With its central location, it is convenient and a happening place to eat. The menu caters for almost all tastes. There is a great emphasis on grills and seafood, but even vegetarians will find something tempting. Choices include Irish stew, chicken satay, fish platter, barbecued ribs, mussels in garlic butter, and aubergine vegetable bake. Prices are perhaps a bit above the norm for a pub, but then so are the choices.
Ate at this restaurant(booking is essential!) on a weekend in Kenmare and it was just fabulous. Read a reviewer who wrote it was "less than average pub grub" and I'm shocked! That person must have no concept of good food. The staff were great and the meal was to die for! Sooo enjoyed it. Had the fillet steak for main and my dessert was white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, YUM! Its a very small restaurant and when we booked I was afraid we would be on top of the other diners as there didn't seem much space between some tables but this wasn't the case at all and I'd highly recommend it for a romantic meal.Top marks for the Horseshoe.
Absolutely love this restaurant and it is one of the reasons I go to Kenmare as often as I do! The sirloin steak is the nicest steak I've ever had. The ambiance, food and friendly staff make this a must when you go to Kenmare.
We have been to Kenmare four times and are just about to go back with yet another pair of friends. ( All from England.) First night, first meal must be at the Horseshoe. Such a welcome! Such great people! Truly perfect, beautifully cooked and presented food! We love it and so does everyone we bring.

I thought the food here was less than average 'pub grub' - at high class restaurant prices. I ordered tiger prawns starter - got 4 on a plate and they were tasteless. The black sole for my main course was less than average and far from fresh. The wine list was very poor - whites offered were sweet and over priced. The Sauvignon Blanc was more like a desert wine! Staff were nice - but overall not a place i could recommend nor return to.
We ate here about a year ago when we were on a weekend break in kenmare, the food was absolutely perfect and the staff were excellent. It's in a great location in the town centre and as we are heading to Kenmare again this weekend I have booked it for a meal again tonight, hope it lives up to my expections second time round.

We were in Kenmare for two nights and just wandered into The Horse Shoe the first night since it looked like a nice little local place. The food was absolutely fabulous! Service was top notch, too. We ended up eating there the second night as well because we just absolutely had to go back for the bread pudding again. It was the best I've ever had and I haven't been able to find anything close since. Definitely a place to stop.
