Dotted throughout Jakarta Bay are 120 tropical islands and coral atolls known, rather misleadingly, as the Thousand Islands. With a total population of only 13,000 people, the bay contains a sprinkling of virgin islands, although the majority are inhabited. Many are privately owned. Popular islands to visit include Bidadari , Onrust, Kelor , Kahyangan , Putri and Ayer. Ancol Marina (where further information on travel arrangements can be found), provides the departure point to this cluster of individual paradises. Contact NEF Tour for more details.

Pulau Macan
By Roderick, 01/11/10
Check out Pulau Macan in the Thousand Islands. it's awesome! I go there alot, good food good people. The island is eco friendly with a solar panel system, little organic garden, driftwood furniture and huts. The people who run the place are great and the prices are really good value. Our piece of heavan near jakarta!

Kotok Island?? Save your money!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/02/09
I went to Alam Kotok Resorts in Thousands Islands Indonesia, a few days ago with my husband. We paid around 650 US for 3 nights (food and transport are included). On the way there the boat we were on (a small speed boat) broken down and we floated around 10 minutes in a very rough swell, a lot of passenger had motion sickness and it was a life threathening 2 hours ride (they could have given us a bigger and better boat). When we were there we were given a room far far away from the front office and it was the worst room we'd ever seen in all our travels. The toilet didn't flush, the water was not running and the walls were craking. The manager swapped it with a better one after we complained, but it really turned us off. We decided to leave the island the next day and were not happy about the refund, as they keep the surchage (90US) and additional 10% cancelation fee. Oh by the way if you wanted to swim at the beach there, beware of stingrays and bottlefish and wear booties (this was the warning along the shore and wasn't mentioned on the website). It scare us off and we didn't enjoy anything, but the food was very good. We will not recommend this destination at all.. for the same money i recommend flying to Lombok

I like this island. Go there with my parents(and my cute girlfriend). The beach is big, I like dreaming all day there. When we were going out for eat, I saw a huge building, it's "Manga&Anime"club.I have never seen it before? BTW, Pulau Seribu is a great place.

You must visit to see the beauty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/05
Visited there 5 years ago, we had a fantastic holiday, The food was delightful so much to choose from, especially breakfast where the restaurant protruded out over the water, swimming amongst the most colourful fish at the end of the jetty, the water was so warm, the children enjoyed every minute. The adults tryed windsurfing, the onlookers from the beach were hysterical with laughter watching them fall again and again I think their instructer thought they were hopeless We had Japanese dinner one evening on the other Island where the meal was cooked in front of you. We have memories on our video, we would love to return there some day.

PULAU KOTOK, THOUSAND ISLANDS Around an hour and a half boat ride from Ancol Marina, this island is the sanctuary of Elang Bondol. Its not a big island but the sea pine trees and the white sandy beach made this island special. Colourful fish so pretty at the deck would eat breadcrumbs from your hand .. snorkling and diving area not far from the island made this a perfect place for kids too .. And monitor lizzards so casual that they would come and approach the dining table to see if there's anything served for them. Supposedly without electricity .. best place for honeymooners and retreat from hustle and bustle of crowded city ..

Pulau Bira - Golf course included!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/05
We went to Bira island for a couple of days. Things didn't start well as the boat to the island was broke. They quickly charted another boat, which was more suitable for races than for transportation purposes. Most people got sick during the ride, I could barely hold my own. Anyways.. after arriving on the island we were pleasantly suprised.. nice environment, friendly staff and good climate. Just about everything you expect from a tropical island! Realize yourself that it IS an island.. boredom can set in pretty soon. Especially when stuff is broken at the island.. like jet skies and the water system for the golf course (the fairways are so hot and dry you got fry an egg on it!). Still, staff is great and always willing to help and entertain you! When we were there not every house had their own tv set
