Ragunan Zoological Park, Pasarminggu

Coming to these dates, the toilets is becoming more clean... you cannot beat the space available and will love the athmosphere since there's plenty of trees there... Eventhough the animals seems to be "standard", they are well treated and healthy... Totally recommended to see, but please aviod school break periods since it will not give you enough space to move around (Jun-July).

It is apparent that the Zoo is moving up. When I visited Jakarta, November, 2007, I observed efforts to update the Zoo's landscaping and many of the habitat displays. As a birdwatcher, I was able to identify numerous species of visiting birds on the Zoo grounds. Ragunan Zoo offers a mid-city oasis for migratory birds, as well as a long-term residence for less common birds which seem to have settled there permanently. I was told that plans are being considered to initiate a "bird walk" program--possibly directed toward school children. This seems like an excellent idea for educating our next generation about the importance of wildlife preservation.

nice large gardens, in central Jakarta is somewhat rare. price is very very cheap. some food stalls inside ensure you wont go hungry like most of Asia they also have a childrens playarea with rides etc but most of the animal cages are depressingly small. the new apes section looks much better.
