Jaya Pub, Menteng

The great thing about the Jaya Pub is that it hardly changed its interior and atmosphere since 1988, the first time I visited the place. At that time it was one of the few places where you could go 'jalan-jalan' as an expat. Every evening the place was jam packed and it was difficult to get in. Since then Jakarta nightlife has completely changed and tons of other places have been opened. But the JPub only added a restaurant area and a pool table! Staff, the live music and above all the atmosphere are still the same, albeit much quieter. It is difficult to find a more relaxed place for a drink and a bite than the Jaya Pub. For the old timers, no recommendation needed. If you liked it when you were young(er),you will still like it. If you are new: try the place! You might become addicted, like me..... And...........if the place doesn't swing enough for you: Kota nightlife is 'around the corner'!

The only pub in Asia that I know which has not changed for over 20 years -that's as long as I am going there every time, I come to Jakarta to say hello to Wirda.

You are always welcomed.The faces are familiar.The staff always treats you as one of the family and the people,food and music is great.My greatest memories of Indonesia is Jaya pub.I wish I could go there now, but I will return and always recommend it to all who visits Jakarta.Jaya pub I salute you.

if you not disturbed by the street girls who try to get an western guy to pay their bill its a funny but a strange club either. the atmosphere is great, the old fashioned interior is just as the girls too, they have been seen much better times long time ago, but never mind, the jaya put not attempt to be a first class restaurant, but a cozy reliable pub where nobody have to wear a suit.its more like a saloon in america, somewhere at the highway. the jaya pub have a sister in bali too, but this has lost all spirit after it got renovated. when i come to jakarta, i always visit the jaya at least once, just to see if everything is the same, and..... it is indeed. well, its not the club i recommend for dinner, but after dinner its very nice, if you like life music and a feeling like beeing in thailand 25 yrs ago :-))
