Hip settings, tasty food and yummy drinks. What the heck else do I need to say? If you like seafood, run, do not walk to Hungry Cat.
We went again last weekend and the food was simply amazing. Every dish popped with flavor. The clam chowder is made to order for you. It's not your grandma's chowder, either. The arctic char was fantastic. The Fruit de Mer was so yummy: go for the hama hama oysters.
The service was not that great this time around. They also are very limited in their mixed drinks, basically you drink what they tell you to, not the other way around. I LOVE their unique drinks, but people who are set in their ways end up sober! The cucumber martini is soooo good!
though not quite as amazing as sister restaurants a.o.c. and lucques, hungry cat is a pretty great spot to get food in hollywood. we got the shrimp and the lobster roll based on reviews which raved about those items. we also tried the beet salad (amazing) and chorizo with clams (not our favorite).
the shrimp were pristine and tasted amazing, though my bf thought they were a touch on the salty side. the lobster roll came with a mound of excellent fries and was rich, creamy, and delicious. we probably wouldn't drive out here just for the food; but it was a nice experience overall. (note: the restaurant is located in a shopping mall with fairly reasonable parking)
